This area is often ignored as the masses flock north to the cluster of 3000'ers around Snowdon itself. Cadair Idris benefits with a much quieter atmosphere around its perfectly formed mountain corrie of Cwm Cau than would otherwise be the case. Legend has it that those who spend the night on top become either a poet or go mad.
